Explaining a concept

Mental Health Assessment is a conversation between you and mental health consultant or healthcare professional that will help you to decide what kind of support you need.

Your needs will be the main focus of the assessment. The discussion will cover:

  • mental health symptoms

  • mental health experiences

  • feelings, thoughts and actions

  • physical health and wellbeing

  • medical history and prescribed medications

  • social and family relationships

  • use of drugs and alcohol

  • your safety and other people's experiences

The more you are able to share, the easier will be find out what support could be offered to you.

In the end of the assessment you will have clarity  about your condition, diagnosis, possible causes and the treatment options.

You can prepare for your mental health assessments making notes about what you want to discuss with the consultant.
